I am pregnant and have celiac disease. I'm craving gluten foods, especially bread. Is there anything I can substitute for it?

Answer:Hi Jan. It's best to call the restaurant ahead or ask your server how the sushi is prepared. Some sushi rice uses non-distilled white vinegar, which is made from either corn or wheat. If this is the vinegar used, then the sushi rice will contain gluten. In addition, sushi rice is sometimes prepared with a chicken broth that contains gluten”¦another reason to ask in advance.

My daughter, now 14, was diagnosed with celiac disease 3 years ago. Her problem has always been, and worse now, is constipation and extremely low energy. Her gastroenterologist keeps saying it's her diet, but she has been gluten-free for 3 years now and has gained more than 100 lbs. since diagnosis. I am at a loss what to do. I was just diagnosed 6 months ago, and I lost 20 lbs. I can't figure why she keeps gaining.

Celiac disease has caused me to have osteoporosis, so I get an annual infusion of reclast. I also take a supplement that contains calcium, vitamin D and strontium. What is strontium and why should it help with osteoporosis?

I'm pretty sure my baby has celiac (though I am told she is too young to be tested). She is also allergic to dairy. She just turned 1, and I am having a hard time finding foods that are soft enough for her to eat. She can eat most canned veggies and fruit and Chex cereal, but I would like a little more variety in her diet. What would you recommend?

I have celiac disease and work in a factory that uses thousands of pounds of flour a day. I was told by one dietitian that I needed to quit my job because it is unsafe and another try to wear a mask. Fact of the matter is even though I am gluten-free I still get sick, miss work for a while, feel better and go back to work, only to get sick again. I feel wonderful right now because I have been off work for a couple months and really do not want to go back and feel like that again. Any thoughts on this?

Have you heard of anyone having problems with quinoa? I think it may be a problem for me.

My 6-year-old daughter has been through a whirlwind of health issues. She has been diagnosed with dairy allergy, soy intolerance, environmental allergies and drug allergies, but one thing that remains is bowel trouble. Her bowel movements are yellow and large; she bloats, appears to be underweight, complains of sore legs, is fidgety and seems unhappy all the time. I came across celiac disease and wondered that, with all that is already being left out of her diet, would it be safe just to take her off gluten and see how it goes? Her pediatrician isn't looking into it.

I was surprised to get sick recently from a quinoa salad seasoned with curry. When I looked online, I saw that curry powder often has wheat flour, so this was probably why. Are there any other hidden glutens that would surprise me? I know about malt and soy sauce, but sometimes I see something like "vegetable protein" and have no idea.

I am sure I am only eating gluten-free food, but every evening I get gassy. If I amfollowing the gluten-free diet, why is that happening to me?
