The gluten-free athlete is working towards becoming the first man to win three Australian Open games in a row.
Tennis star Novak Djokovic found himself back on top as the highest ranking male tennis player this past November. Now, he’s aiming for a new goal: To be the first man to win three Australian Opens in a row.
“It’s a huge challenge,” Djokovic said as he expressed his love for the Australian Open, a court he says brings back memories of some of the best moments in his career. Djokovic is no stranger to overcoming challenges, however. In 2011, he revealed he has a gluten-related disorder and had adopted a gluten-free diet. He’s credited the diet for his improved performance in the past, and with a potentially record-setting match on the horizon, it appears that could still be the case.
The Australian Open is slated to begin on Monday, January 14thcurrently in progress. Head to PerthNow.com to read more about Djokovic’s competition, as they race to claim the Australian Open crown.
