NFL Player James Starks Goes Gluten-Free

Green Bay Packers’ running back improved his game and strength with a gluten-free diet.

Adding to the long line of athletes going gluten-free is running back James Starks of the Green Bay Packers.

According to an article on HerGameLife.com, Starks suffered from shoulder and hamstring injuries that impacted his performance in both his college and pro ball career. Concerned with the amount of time it would take for him to recover from his injuries, Starks met with a nutritionist for diet tips for a faster recovery. His nutritionist recommended adopting the gluten-free diet.

Starks has not revealed if he received a diagnosis of celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity, but he has gained weight and feels ready to hit the field. According to the original post, Starks is ready for a productive 2012 season with the Packers.
