NFCA Congratulates Rachel Begun, MS, RD, CDN, on Appointment as Spokesperson for Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

The NFCA Scientific/Medical Advisory Board member will serve a 3-year term with the Academy.

Rachel Begun, MS, RD, CDNRegistered dietitian Rachel Begun, MS, RD, CDN, a member of the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness’ (NFCA) Scientific/Medical Advisory Board, has been named one of four new media spokespeople for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly the American Dietetic Association). She will conduct interviews on nutrition and healthful eating on behalf of the Academy during the 2012-2015 term.

“When the media is looking for science- and evidence-based food and nutrition information, it is important they look to registered dietitians,” said registered dietitian and Academy President Ethan Bergman. “As the recognized experts, the Academy’s spokespeople are able to decipher nutrition fact from fiction, ensuring consumers have the information they need to make informed and healthful choices.”

Rachel owns a nutrition consulting firm and has 11 years of experience working with the media. She counsels patients with celiac disease, gluten-related disorders and food allergies, and educates the public and other food and nutrition professionals through speaking engagements, educational webinars and writing. She has worked with NFCA in a variety of ways, including serving as an expert for “Answers from a Dietitian” and as a webinar panelist.

NFCA is thrilled to see a member of the celiac and gluten-free community earn this distinguished honor. We look forward to continuing our work with Rachel and are eager to support her achievements with the Academy!
