Gluten-Free Pro-Golfer Places 6th in LPGA Classic LPGA

NFCA Athlete for Awareness Sarah Jane Smith finishes strong in golf tournament.

Women’s pro-golfer Sarah Jane Smith finished the Navistar LPGA Classic in 6th place, just behind fellow golfers Stacey Lewis and Lexi Thompson.

Sarah Jane is one of NFCA’s Athletes for Awareness, gluten-free competitors following the gluten-free lifestyle due to celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity. While preparing for the 2008 LPGA tour, Sarah Jane began to experience unusual fatigue, abdominal pain and constipation. Her mother had already been diagnosed with celiac disease, so she proceeded to get tested for the autoimmune digestive disease. Her results were positive for celiac, so she has adopted the gluten-free diet and has restored her golf game as a result of the switch.

Sarah Jane’s 6th place victory puts her ahead of 114 other female pro-golfers competing in the tournament. Congrats from NFCA on your success!
