Gluten-Free Dish Knocks Out the Competition

Drexelbrook Catering & Special Event Center’s gluten-free crab cake dish won “Best Entrée” in a cooking competition, rising above every gluten-containing entry.

On June 23, 2015, WHYY TV 12, a Philadelphia-based non-profit station, hosted a cooking competition fundraiser. Drexelbrook Catering & Special Events Center, accredited through the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness’ (NFCA) GREAT Kitchens training program, blew the competition out of the water when its gluten-free dish took home the coveted “Best Entrée” prize.

Drexelbrook Catering Wins Best Entree

Congratulations to the Drexelbrook team!

The winning dish was gluten-free Crab Cakes served over a Summer Aztec Rice Blend and topped with a Spicy Avocado Aioli. Each of the 405 portions made for the competition were gobbled up by the nearly 400 event attendees. Drexelbrook’s meal was the only gluten-free dish in the competition, proving just how delicious gluten-free can be.

The National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA) congratulates Drexelbrook on this amazing accomplishment! Drexelbrook has demonstrated the utmost commitment to the celiac disease and gluten sensitive communities by taking the GREAT Kitchens training course. The catering company went on to earn Accreditation through a rigorous process that includes submission and approval of safe gluten-free food preparation protocols by NFCA.
