LunaThe Voices of Celiac Disease

“Luna always has a positive attitude and is extremely mature about her disease for an 11 year old.”

As Luna is a minor, her story is told by her parent, Jen.

Describe your child’s life prior to diagnosis:

Luna constantly had stomach issues and night terrors. She suffered from malnutrition.

How long did it take for your child to get diagnosed since their first symptoms and what (if any) challenges did you face along the way?

It took three to four months for her to get diagnosed, but my daughter was sick with stomach issues every day. We had taken several trips to the emergency room but got little help.

Describe your child’s experience with living with celiac disease:

It’s been fairly easy, except for the times she has to eat away from home, cross-contact issues, and being left out of food activities at friends and family events.

Is there anything else you’d like to add to your child’s story?

Despite her struggles, Luna always has a positive attitude and is extremely mature about her disease for an 11 year old.
