Hi everyone, Camille here! I’m a product and strategy manager living in NYC. Outside of volunteering, you can find me swing dancing, at foreign language meetups, traveling, or cooking healthy gluten-free meals. I’m also a feedback expert and teach corporate wellbeing and meditation. I love bringing people together to try new activities, support one another, and create space for our artistic, playful, and expressive sides.
Life with Celiac Disease
My journey to a celiac disease diagnosis was a long one with years of constant stomach upset. I finally got diagnosed just before Valentine’s Day 2020—one month before the US shut down with COVID. Unfortunately, this meant that I didn’t have much access to the celiac community as events went online or stopped entirely. Aside from receiving one tremendously long and useful note from a family friend, I didn’t get to meet friends with celiac disease in person until almost 4 years post-diagnosis. It was a lonely time, and I don’t want others to have to face celiac disease on their own without a group of celiac buddies to help them see the positives.
As a Reach Beyond Celiac Ambassador, my hope is to spark friendship for all of us with celiac—whether they’re days or decades into their celiac disease journeys—by hosting events that focus on creating authentic connection, sharing passions, and providing a supportive space for whenever this lifestyle throws a curveball.
