After completing the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA) Gluten-Free Resource Education Awareness Training (GREAT) program, nearly 30 city eateries—the largest organized block of GF dining spots in the tri-state area—are ready to cater to diners with celiac disease or wheat allergies. GF offerings in Philadelphia include beer at Memphis Taproom, pasta at The Palm Restaurant and a 90% GF menu at Distrito. Most importantly, staff at each of the 31 restaurants are educated about the disease and can answer questions and accommodate GF requests. And NFCA hosts monthly Monday Meet-Up! dinners at the Philadelphia GF-ready restaurants to raise money and awareness for the under-diagnosed autoimmune disorder.
