I Got Sick at a Friend's House

Question:

I like going over to my friend’s house, but I got sick last time I ate dinner with them. My mom wants to talk to his mom about it, but I don’t want to make a big deal. What should I do?

Answer:

Tell your mom that you want to talk to his mom first. Tell her that you have a celiac disease, and like a food allergy, you have to be careful not to eat it or have things cross contaminated. Then have your mom and his mom talk.

Tell your mom that you don’t want it to be a big deal. Then she won’t go overboard and make a huge deal about it. Have your mom make a list of foods that you can have if his mom is worried about not having anything to make.
