Is Einkorn Gluten-Free?

A wooden scoop spoon in a bag of einkorn seeds. No, einkorn is not gluten-free. It is not safe for anyone with celiac disease, non-celiac gluten sensitivity, or a wheat allergy.

What is Einkorn?

Einkorn is a type of wheat. It was one of the first strains to be domesticated by humans, so it’s often called an ancient grain. It is also sometimes called farro, which is a name used for multiple types of wheat. Regardless of the name, einkorn or farro, you can be confident that it is not gluten-free.

Einkorn is commonly found in flours, breads and porridge.
