World renowned researcher Dr. Alessio Fasano of the Center for Celiac Research at the University of Maryland is the recipient of the coveted Shwachman Award.
The Shwachman Award, presented by the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN), is reserved for top contributors to the field of pediatric gastroenterology. NASPGHAN recently awarded this honor to Alessio Fasano, MD, medical director for the Center for Celiac Research at the University of Maryland.
A member of NFCA’s Scientific/Medical Advisory Council, Dr. Fasano was named the recipient for making “major, lifelong scientific or educational contributions to the field of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology or nutrition in North America.”
NFCA congratulates Dr. Fasano on receiving the Shwachman Award and applauds him for his amazing contributions to celiac disease research.
