Hello! My name is Kimberly. I live with my husband and three young children just outside of Detroit. I’m a proud Spartan with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University—Go green! Professionally, I serve as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer for Renaissance Venture Capital. Renaissance invests in venture capital funds around the U.S. and connects those funds with both Michigan’s start-up community and with major companies looking for innovation.
Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, golfing (badly), a cheesy rom-com, and spending a cozy night at home with my family. And, yes, talking about celiac disease is now a major hobby!
Journey to Diagnosis
My daughter, who was 5 at the time, was diagnosed in the winter of 2025. We struggled to figure out the root cause of her various GI and other random symptoms for a year before diagnosis. I had no experience with the intricacies of celiac before her diagnosis. I made it a personal goal to learn everything I could. My lifeline became the meaningful connections I found—mostly real-life celiac moms—and wonderful organizations like Beyond Celiac that had the reliable resources I needed.
Embracing the Gluten-Free Life
Since embracing the gluten-free life, my daughter has returned to the vibrant, energetic young lady she was before her symptoms began. Witnessing her renewed health has been the most rewarding experience of my life, a journey that has profoundly taught me patience, empathy, and discipline.
I feel incredibly honored to join Beyond Celiac as an Ambassador. Someday, I want my daughter to look back and be proud knowing I tried everything I could to advocate for her and others like her.
