NFCA catches up with the ultramarathoner and cookbook author at Nourished Food Blogger Conference.

Last week, NFCA Online Content Manager Cheryl McEvoy spent some face-to-face time with Athlete for Awareness Peter Bronski at the Nourished Food Blogger Conference in Lombard, IL. Peter was there to share his expertise as a published cookbook author, but Cheryl got the scoop on his ultramarathon training.

Peter is preparing to run his 3rd consecutive ultramarathon to benefit the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness. The race takes place on September 22, 2012, and includes a 50-mile course that scales 10,000 feet of vertical height.

Last year, Peter finished the race but faced a number of training setbacks, including a trip to the hospital. This year, he is feeling better than ever and is confident that he’ll have a strong finish.

The secret to Peter’s training? A lot of running, a fine-tuned diet, and post-workout recovery shakes help him maximize energy and keep muscle pains to a minimum.
