Associate Director of Development
The Associate Director of Development, reporting to the Director of Development, will be vital in increasing revenue through individual giving, event sponsorships, and peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives. This role focuses on strategically recruiting and engaging new donors and forging new partnerships with businesses for sponsorship.
The Associate Director will enhance new and current donor commitment and loyalty through personalized stewardship and training a strong volunteer base for peer-to-peer event fundraising. Collaborating with the Director of Development, this position will help maintain the CRM database to ensure accurate gift and solicitation records. The Associate Director will help administer the strategic fundraising strategy. This full-time, remote position requires travel for donor engagement activities and special events. The ideal candidate will have 1 to 3 years of fundraising experience in the nonprofit sector.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside the Director of Development to implement the individual giving strategy to engage, renew, and acquire potential donors through identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Build relationships with new individual donors attending Beyond Celiac signature events and create donor engagement opportunities that enhance donor loyalty.
- Oversee and manage the peer-to-peer fundraising, including training volunteers, crafting tools and providing 1:1 coaching so volunteers can lead and host successful benefiting fundraising events and raise vital funds for Beyond Celiac signature events.
- Collaborate with the communications team to help implement an integrated communications plan and help produce donor-facing collateral and materials for peer-to-peer fundraising events.
- Support CRM gift processing, acknowledgments, constituent records, and data/report requests.
- Administer the donor acquisition strategy, expanding prospect research and identifying potential donors.
- Prepare individualized proposals for the solicitation and securing of individual and sponsorship gifts, meeting with donors either face-to-face or virtually.
- Ensure timely and professional communication with current or prospective donors via virtual meetings, in-person meetings, telephone calls, email correspondence, and handwritten notes.
- Support the fundraising strategies developed by the Director of Development, including organizing and managing Beyond Celiac cultivation and benefit events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 1–3 years of successful nonprofit fundraising required (more experience a plus), with specific focus on peer-to-peer fundraising.
- CRM experience; Salesforce a plus.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, especially in the areas of donor communications.
- Proven reliability, responsiveness, and efficiency, especially in a remote-work environment.
- Strong and engaging communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize.
- Proficiency in written English and command of grammar.
- Proficient computer skills; excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, email applications, G-Suite tools and use of internet for research purposes.
- Ability to learn new software and online processing systems.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team player.
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Interest in celiac disease or the gluten-free diet a plus, but not required.
Logistics
This is a full-time, remote position with benefits. Some travel required for donor engagement activities and special events. The person in this position will be on the advancement team and report to the Director of Development.
