Beyond Celiac partners with AGA to make updates from the issue available to those with celiac disease

Celiac disease was the focus of a recent special issue of the journal Gastroenterology. Articles in the issue detailed how knowledge about celiac disease has sped up in recent years after a long time when not much progress was being made.
The articles, which cover what is now known about celiac disease, were written by scientists from around the globe. They were primarily aimed at the physicians and researchers who mainly subscribe to the scientific journal.
Beyond Celiac partnered with the American Gastroenterological Association, which publishes the journal, to make the celiac disease articles available and understandable to patients.
Amy Ratner, Beyond Celiac director of scientific affairs, wrote patient-friendly summaries on topics covered in the issue, including the impact the first drug that gets approved to treat celiac disease will have on disease diagnosis and management, the way celiac disease affects the body beyond the gut, and the broad economic burden of celiac disease.
You can find all the articles on the AGA celiac disease resource center.
Ratner regularly writes about celiac disease research for the Beyond Celiac research news feed, with the goal of making the research easier for patients to understand. You can subscribe to get research news updates here.
The AGA says the partnership with Beyond Celiac set out to “help patients and health care providers better understand the future of celiac disease research which hopes to bring new ways to diagnose, prevent and maybe even treat the condition using methods that don’t involve a gluten-free diet.”
