Looking for a Dietitian

August 09, 2011

Question:

I have celiac and I need a good doctor or dietitian. I live in the Branson, MO area. Any help would be appreciated.

From,

Linda

Answer:

Hi Linda. Using Tricia Thompson’s website www.glutenfreedietitian.com, I found a couple of ideas for you in the Branson, MO area. Tricia lists a dietitian in Springfield: Roxanne Mason, RD,LD,CDE, St. John’s Hospital, 417-841-0364, [email protected]. There is a GI department at that hospital, too, so you may be able to find a physician.

Support groups are a great resource for finding local doctors and dietitians in your area. I found this support group based out of Kimberling City: Tri Lakes Celiac Support Group (GIG). Contact: Barbara Hicks, [email protected]. I also found a health food store in Branson that carries gluten-free food: Nature’s Sunshine Health Foods, www.bransonhealthfoods.com.

Please keep in mind that I am not personally familiar with any of these resources and cannot vouch for their expertise.

[Note: Paula M. Antonacci, RD, of Nutrition Spectrum, LLC in Kansas City, MO, has completed gluten-free training through NFCA’s GREAT Dietitians program. You can reach her at [email protected].]

Sincerely,

Nancy Dickens, BS, RD, LDN
