Shine a Light on Celiac
Each May we team up with other celiac disease organizations from across the globe to #ShineALightOnCeliac. On May 16, various landmarks, including buildings, bridges, and even Niagara Falls, will be lit up green—the unofficial color of the celiac disease community—to raise awareness of this serious autoimmune condition. Check out the website to see if anything near you will be green!
Raise Money for Beyond Celiac on Facebook!
Happy birth month to all our May-born community members! When your big day rolls around, consider raising money for Beyond Celiac so that we can help fund new research by scientists in the celiac disease field. And a HUGE thank you to everyone who’s created fundraisers for us throughout the years! These fundraisers help make our important work possible.

Gluten-Free Recipes
Strawberry and Meringue Dessert (Eton Mess)
A light and sweet treat is just what we need to welcome summer! This is a simple recipe that is easily customizable and can look quite fancy when served in an elegant glass. You can try making your own gluten-free meringue according to the recipe, or buy them online to save time.
Sloppy Joes
Sloppy Joes are an American classic and a great option for a summer potluck. A loose mixture of beef, tomato sauce and onions all on a soft bun makes for a delectable (and yes, somewhat messy) dish!
This recipe was provided courtesy of our friends at the Gluten-Free Palate.

Research Roundup
What Do You Think About Treatments for Celiac Disease? Take Our Survey!
Beyond Celiac is interested in what people with celiac disease may want from treatments beyond the gluten-free diet and what kinds of clinical trials they would be willing to participate in. If you’re 18 or older, please fill out our short survey (less than 10 minutes) to help us better understand our community’s thoughts and preferences.
When Blood Tests Suggest Celiac Disease, One Third of Patients Don’t Get Appropriate Follow-Up Testing
Nearly one in three people who have positive blood tests for celiac disease don’t go on to get the endoscopy and biopsy that confirms a celiac disease diagnosis, according to new research by Beyond Celiac.
Random Screening of Children Leads to Celiac Disease Diagnosis and Better Health
Children who most likely would not have been diagnosed with celiac disease had they not been randomly screened for the condition showed important health-related improvements after diagnosis and one year on the gluten-free diet.
