Note from Alice: What Could 1 Million Dollars Do?
As 2018 comes to an end, it’s time to take stock of how far we’ve come, and how far we still need to go. The truth is, the longevity and quality of life of people with celiac disease has been compromised for too long. Beyond Celiac is committed to a vision of a world in which people with celiac disease canlive healthy lives free from social stigma and fear of gluten exposure. To make this vision a reality, we have taken action and are now focused on finding a cure as soon as possible.
Our aggressive strategy is simple – accelerate practical, patient-focused celiac disease research to get results. We believe treatments and a cure are on the horizon, and we will not stop until we reach our goal. We are tackling the challenge from numerous angles. Our patient platform and registry Go Beyond Celiac is making it possible for direct participation from our community in research for treatments and a cure. In October we announced the funding of grants to support researchers early in their careers to ensure that there are new scientists entering the field. We are expanding our efforts working with pharmaceutical companies on clinical trials. We will soon extend our research grants to help support mid-career celiac disease researchers as well. Each of these activities is a piece of the puzzle that will bring us to our goal, and each of them needs financial support to be successful.
We work in partnership with our community, key researchers, clinicians, stakeholders and donors. We are makingreal progress on solutions that will truly benefit our community. The goal of getting treatments in the hands of the celiac disease community will take tenacity and perseverance. Make no mistake – we will keep after it until our community can live life to the fullest.
Beyond Celiac has ademonstrated track record of success over 15 years. We’ve shown that there’s nothing we can’t accomplish when we put our minds to it, but we aren’t in this work alone. We rely on the financial commitment of our supporters and our community. We have a goal of raising $1M by December 31 to take the next steps in advancing celiac disease research for treatments and a cure. It’ll take gifts of all sizes to reach our objective, so please help all you can. We just want everyone to play a part.
Can we count on you? Thank you for bringing our vision of a world Beyond Celiac closer to a reality.
Warmly,
Alice Bast
