Pennsylvania Named “World’s Most Celiac-Friendly Destination”

Gluten Free Travel Site credits the Keystone State’s win to the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness’ GREAT Kitchens program.

Each year, the Gluten Free Travel Site dubs one location as the “World’s Most Celiac-Friendly Destination.” This year, they announced Pennsylvania as the winner for 2012, as determined by the number of restaurant reviews posted to the site by the gluten-free community.

According to the site’s official announcement, the win is “due in large part to the many, many Philadelphia-area restaurants that have undergone training through the GREAT Kitchens program run by the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness” (NFCA).

Through GREAT Kitchens, a gluten-free training program for foodservice professionals, NFCA works towards our mission to ensure people with gluten-related disorders have access to safe and delicious gluten-free food. With a newly updated program, GREAT Kitchens offers specialized gluten-free training and education for everyone in the restaurant, from the wait staff to the chefs.

NFCA is honored to be credited in part for Pennsylvania’s win, and we look forward to continuing to increase the number of foodservice industry professionals trained through GREAT Kitchens. NFCA has trained kitchens throughout the US, so click here to find a GREAT Kitchen near you!
