Wegmans Food Markets, Inc., a 72-store supermarket chain, welcomed a sold out crowd to their 2009 ‘Living Gluten-Free with Wegmans’ event on Tuesday, June 2nd. The fantastic affair was held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Wegmans Conference Center near their corporate headquarters in Rochester, NY.

Those in attendance were treated to gluten-free cooking demos, product sampling from over 40 gluten-free vendors, and a complimentary goodie bag!

As part of their ‘Living Gluten-Free with Wegmans’ celebration, Wegmans sponsored a celiac disease and gluten-free lifestyle educational session for their employees.

NFCA founder and president Alice Bast was invited by Wegmans to speak about celiac disease as an expert in this field. Alice raised education and awareness among Wegmans employees about celiac disease and the gluten-free diet, information that will assist these employees as they serve the rapidly growing customer base interested in gluten-free products. Alice was also on hand to greet guests and distribute information during the evening festivities.
