Ian’s All Natural Italian Style Panko Breadcrumbs Recalled for Being Mislabeled as Gluten-Free

While the Ian’s breadcrumbs declare wheat in the ingredients, the front of the package is labeled as “allergy-friendly, gluten-free.”

Stop & Shop has recalled Ian’s Italian Style Panko Breadcrumbs due to mislabeling of the package. The breadcrumbs do contain wheat, which is called out on the ingredient label. The front of the package, however, claims the product to be “allergy-friendly, gluten-free.”

According to eMaxHealth, “The items were sold in 9 ounce packages with UPC codes of 74951277220. Several expiration dates are being included in the recall: 31MAY15, 11OCT15 & 17OCT15.”

The National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA) reminds people with celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity (‘gluten sensitivity’) to read the ingredients on all packaged products, including those that are labeled gluten-free, to ensure accidental gluten exposure does not occur.
