Houston athletes run for celiac awareness

The first Celiac Awareness 5K Run and Walk will be held in Houston on Saturday, May 19th.
The Houston Area Road Runners Association is sponsoring a 5K Run and Walkto raise awareness of celiac disease. This is a first-ever event for this group of athletes.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness, GIG (Gluten Intolerance Group of North America) and the Center for Celiac Research at the University of Maryland.

Michael Danke, NFCA Business Advisory Board member, has long been a champion of promoting awareness of celiac disease. His recovery after being diagnosed has included a return to athletics. This event is a perfect chance for Michael to combine his two passions, running and raising awareness of celiac disease. You can read Michael’s story here.
