GREAT-Trained University Ranks #3 on Udi’s List of the Top 10 Gluten-Free Accommodationg Colleges

Loyola Marymount University is recognized for their commitment to safely serving gluten-free meals to students living with gluten-related disorders.

The transition to college can be tough for all students – between moving away from home for the first time, facing classroom challenges and living with new people, there’s a lot to adjust to. Students with celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity (‘gluten sensitivity’) have the additional challenge of finding safe gluten-free options on and off campus. At the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA), we think gluten-free students shouldn’t have to miss out on any part of the college experience because of their modified diet. That’s why we focus on educating colleges and universities on how to prepare safe meals for students through the GREAT Schools, Colleges and Camps online gluten-free training program.

Loyola Marymount University (LMU) in Los Angeles California was one of the first universities to be accredited through the GREAT Schools program. In order to be accredited, schools must take the training course and submit their gluten-free action plan to NFCA, among other requirements. LMU’s dedication to keeping their gluten-free students safe landed them in the #3 spot on Udi’s list of the Top 10 Gluten-Free Accommodating Colleges for 2014.

NFCA encourages students and parents to talk to their local colleges and universities about participating in the GREAT Schools progam. More information can be found here.

Congratulations to LMU and the other colleges recognized by Udi’s!
