Gluten-Free Kid has Lunch at the White House

54 children head to D.C. for lunch with First Lady Michelle Obama after winning the Healthy Lunchtime Challenge.

How many children can say they had lunch with Michelle Obama at the White House this week? 54, to be exact.

These 54 kids, all between the ages of eight and 12, were the winners of a national recipe contest, The Healthy Lunchtime Challenge. Among the winners was Ingrid Gruber, a 9-year-old living with celiac disease. Her winning recipe was, of course, gluten-free – “Inga Binga’s Salmon Salad.”

Ingrid’s win in the national challenge proves that gluten-free doesn’t have to mean taste-free. Congratulations to Ingrid and all the winners of The Healthy Lunchtime Challenge!
