Food Network Chefs have Gluten-Free Cooking Spree Connection

Gluten-Free Cooking Spree veterans, Chefs Jose Garces and Jehangir Mehta, compete in Iron Chef finale

Chefs Jehangir Mehta and Jose Garces battle for the title of Iron Chef this Sundayon The Food Network (9pm/8c).

Both Chefs have participated in NFCA Gluten-Free Cooking Spree events. Chef Mehta took part in the 2007 New York City Gluten-Free Cooking Spree,while Chef Garces and his establishments (Amada, Distrito, Chifa, and Tinto) have been represented at the 2008 and 2009 Appetite for Awarenesscelebrations.

About Food Network Chefs Jose Garces, and Jehangir Mehta

Chef Jose Garces has emerged as an enormous talent and one of the nation’s most gifted chefs at the age of only 35, a reputation that he solidified with the success of first restaurant, Amada, which opened in 2005.

Garces has five additional restaurants in both Philadelphia and Chicago, and authored his first cookbook, Latin Evolution (Lake Isle Press, September 2008).


Chef Jehangir Mehta
opened Graffiti in the East Village of New York City in 2007. Part bistro, part bakery with a goodly list of wines by the glass and a whole lot of heart!

Prior to launching his own venture, Mehta help posts at some of New York City’s best restaurants including Aix, Compass, and Jean-Georges.
