Celiac and Restaurant Co-Owner Talks Gluten-Free with CNN’s Eatocracy

Amy Gjerde of Woodberry Kitchen shares “Five Places You Won’t Miss the Gluten.”

CNN’s Eatocracy food blog has been a boon for the celiac and gluten-free community. So far, it’s covered Five Tips to Cooking a Gluten-Free Thanksgiving Meal, Gluten-Free Ingredients to Cook With in the New Year, and has an ongoing series about celiac disease authored by an editorial producer who has the autoimmune disorder.

This past Wednesday, Eatocracy served another course on gluten-free. The daily [email protected] column shared “Five Places You Won’t Miss the Gluten,” as suggested by Amy Gjerde of Woodberry Kitchen in Baltimore, MD. Amy, who runs the farm-to-table restaurant with her husband, has celiac disease. As a result, the restaurant is a gluten-free friendly destination.

According to Amy, gluten-free eaters won’t miss the gluten in:

  1. Gluten-Free Pasta
  2. Cornbread
  3. Dips & Gravies
  4. Processed Foods (Amy says to avoid them, whether gluten-free or not)
  5. Wheat-Free Tamari
