2013 is the “International Year of Quinoa”

New cookbook helps celebrate what the United Nations’ Food and Agricultural Organization has dubbed the year of quinoa.

Quinoa is a staple in the gluten-free diet and is known for its versatile, nutrient-packed flavor. It’s gaining more popularity, especially as more people are taking note of its nutritional benefits. In fact, the United Nations and the Andean community of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru have officially announced 2013 to be the “International Year of Quinoa.”

Fittingly, a new gluten-free cookbook has been released by best-selling authors Patricia Green and Carolyn Hemming called “Quinoa Revolution: Over 150 Healthy, Great-Tasting Recipes Under 500 Calories.” With everything from main-course recipes to desserts, the cookbook is sure to inspire both old and new quinoa fans alike.
