SEATTLE, WA – October 4, 2007 – Award-winning blogger Shauna James Ahern, a.k.a. the Gluten-Free Girl (www.GlutenFreeGirl.blogspot.com), will sign copies of her new memoir and cookbook at a benefit dinner hosted by ChefShop.com. “We are very excited to be hosting this event,” said Tim Mar, President and founder of ChefShop.com, Inc. “Shauna and her husband, the Chef, are great friends of ChefShop.com.”

Fans and readers can look forward to meeting Shauna and enjoying some of her delicious Gluten-Free recipes featured in her newly released book, Gluten-Free Girl: How I Found the Food That Loves Me Back…And How You Can Too. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase the book, and Shauna will be available to autograph copies and share recipes and humorous stories of her life after being diagnosed with celiac disease.

Celiac disease is an autoimmune digestive disorder that damages the small intestine and can interfere with the body’s ability to absorb nutrients from food. Individuals diagnosed with celiac disease must avoid eating gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye and barley. A portion of the event proceeds will benefit National Foundation for Celiac Awareness, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and funding for celiac disease and to advance research, education and screening among medical professionals, children and adults.

After being diagnosed with celiac disease in April 2005, Shauna combined her passion for writing and food in the acclaimed blog, Gluten Free Girl. Her new book grew from that blog and has been hailed as “a delightful memoir of learning to eat superbly while remaining gluten free” by Newsweek magazine. This event is open to the public for a fee of $50.00 per person and includes a multi-course buffet dinner featuring recipes from Gluten-Free Girl, and artisan-produced foods supplied by ChefShop.com.
