Beyond Celiac—an entrepreneurial non-profit working as a catalyst to drive treatments toward a cure for celiac disease and support the celiac disease community—is seeking a group of paid interns for the summer to work with our Community Engagement team and help with researching opportunities in the nonprofit sector. Interns will complete the internship with an understanding of volunteer management, partnerships, and fundraising.
In the summer of 2020, Beyond Celiac launched an exciting new opportunity to connect with the community and work with the next generation of celiac disease advocates: our Summer Intern Council. The interns, a small group of college students brought together from across the country, worked remotely with Beyond Celiac to provide avenues for growth and new methods of engagement, including pitching and developing a community-based ambassador program. Within just six months, the Reach Beyond Celiac ambassador program was created and implemented – a full circle fruition of our inaugural council’s project!
This summer, our Intern council will work to engage and educate Beyond Celiac community members across the country. You will collaborate as part of a team to coordinate community outreach, volunteer recruitment, and fundraising efforts while providing a wide range of database, research, administrative, and general support to the Beyond Celiac team. In return, Beyond Celiac will provide an opportunity for you to gain experience with fundraising, philanthropy, celiac disease education, advocacy, and the day-to-day operations of a nonprofit organization that is changing the lives of patients and families affected by celiac disease and non-celiac gluten sensitivity.
The program is designed to provide interns with challenging yet practical experiences while providing immediate value to the specific Beyond Celiac departments with whom you will be working. The work will be challenging, engaging, and have significant social impact while building leadership, strategic planning, collaboration and other skills.
You’ll gain experience in community engagement and business development roles by understanding the importance of quality control in fundraising, creating strategy and useful tools to drive year-round fundraising dollars, as well as mobilizing current and prospective volunteers, and interacting with donors and vendors. You will have the chance to explore various avenues of fundraising from event planning to all forms of individual giving. If you are energetic, intelligent, and full of big ideas… and you want to make a difference in the world this summer… please apply today!
