Celiac Disease on “The Doctors”: Alice Bast of Beyond Celiac Shares the Truth about the Disease

Celiac disease takes center stage on The Doctors, a national syndicated television show.

The gluten-free diet is always taking the spotlight in the mainstream news. Isn’t it time that celiac disease, not its treatment, gets the attention? At Beyond Celiac, we want people to recognize celiac disease as the serious genetic autoimmune condition that it is — not the latest fad diet or trend.

On December 6, 2016, Beyond Celiac CEO Alice Bast put celiac disease front and center on “The Doctors,” a national television program. She shared her diagnosis story with The Doctors, proving just how devastating celiac disease really can be. For Alice, undiagnosed celiac disease led to multiple miscarriages and a stillborn child, a girl that Alice and her husband named Emily. 26 years later, Alice still tells her painful story in the hopes of raising awareness and proving that celiac disease is no fad.

Watch Alice tell her story on “The Doctors,” alongside Dr. Freda Lewis-Hall, Chief Medical Officer of Pfizer.
